The Ragdoll



The Ragdoll is known to be a friendly, affectionate, docile breed that has the tendancy to go limp in ones arms. They are a very people oriented cat who love to be with humans and become very attached to their owners. They often follow their humans everywhere and wait at the door when they come home. While calm, Ragdolls are still moderatley active and do like to play. They are very easily trained to walk on a leash, to fetch and retrieve toys and to use a scratching post. Because Ragdolls are a very social breed it isn't a bad idea to consider getting two if your away from home a lot. Take note that these are only common qualities and don't apply to all Ragdolls. Every Ragdoll is different and unique.

The Ragdoll is a large breed, taking up to 4 years to reach maturity. males weigh between 15 and 20 lbs while females weigh between 8 and 15 lbs. They are a heavy boned, muscular cat with a broad chest and large hindquarters.

Ragdolls are born white and obtain their full color at about 2 years. They come in four color patterns: bicolor, color-point, mitted and lynx with point colors in seal, chocolate, blue, lilac, ret, tortie, cream and blue-cream. All Ragdolls have amazing blue eyes. They have medium to long hair that is almost rabbit-like in texture.
